How RAW is developed into JPG
RAW requires developing (demosaicing + white balance) before a viewable image can be output.
Batch develop — download as a single ZIP
Drop an entire shoot at once, pick a format, develop with one click, and take everything home as a ZIP — no clicking file by file.
- Add any number of RAW originals at once
- Failed files are flagged individually without stopping the batch
- Develop + convert entirely local, no upload
- One-click ZIP download, or save files individually
What do you lose when converting RAW to JPG
Converting to JPG compresses high bit-depth data down to 8-bit, sacrificing some editing headroom — this is a format characteristic, not a tool limitation.
- 12–14 bit depth — more highlight and shadow detail
- Lossless, maximum editing latitude
- Large file size (often 20–60 MB each)
- Requires dedicated software or develop to view
- 8-bit depth, compatible with screens and printing
- Lossy compression, small size — easy to share
- Opens on any device directly
- First choice for client delivery, submissions, and web uploads
Frequently asked questions
RAW is high bit-depth lossless data. Converting to JPG compresses it to 8-bit lossy format, reducing editing latitude. For direct viewing, sharing, and delivery, JPG quality is more than sufficient. If you want to preserve maximum detail, choose PNG (lossless, but larger file size).
No. RAW developing and conversion happens entirely in your browser. Original files are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted. You can safely process client originals and unpublished work.
Currently Canon CR2/CR3, Nikon NEF, Sony ARW, and universal DNG. Fujifilm RAF and Olympus ORF will be added soon. The brand is detected automatically from actual file content — no manual selection needed.
Yes. Drop multiple RAW files, choose the target format, and develop with one click. Individual file failures do not affect the rest. Successful results can be downloaded as a single ZIP.
Default develop parameters aim to reproduce the camera's color rendering style and avoid obvious color casts. The app prioritizes reading the full-size embedded JPEG preview inside the RAW (the camera's own develop result). Full demosaic developing is handled by a dedicated library.
RAW files are large and developing is computationally intensive — some extra time is normal. Progress is shown throughout and the app will not freeze. For large batches on slower devices, consider processing in smaller groups.
